Importance of proper food

Food intake is important for our body, it must be taken in the right amount so that it can produce energy and keep our body temperature stable.

The amount of food required depends on many factors like your age, gender and physical activity level.

The list below will help you decide how much food you should eat:

          1. A child under one year old requires only breast milk or formula milk as their main source of nutrition.

2. An adult man requires around 2,400 calories a day while an adult woman requires around 2,000 calories a day.

The human body temperature is normally controlled by the autonomic nervous system, which uses a combination of reflexes and hormones to regulate body temperature. The autonomic nervous system can be divided into two branches, the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS).

The SNS is responsible for controlling the body's core temperature, while the PNS controls peripheral body temperature. The SNS is activated by stress and fear, while the PNS is activated by relaxation and meditation.

The major function of the SNS is to signal the brain when energy reserves are low or when energy needs must be met quickly. As such, it tells your brain to start burning fuel (food) at a faster rate, increasing metabolism and digestive processes. This results in an increased heart rate, breathing rate, sweating and even salivation as your body reacts to being starved for energy.*

Food is the fuel to our body. When and what kind of food needs to intake?*

Your body requires protein-rich foods like meat, fish and eggs for building muscle mass; carbohydrates like breads, cereals and pasta; fruits for vitamins; dairy products like milk

The body temperature of an organism is regulated by a feedback mechanism that uses the energy from food as a source of heat. The main control center for this feedback mechanism is located in the hypothalamus.

The hypothalamus has two major divisions: the anterior and posterior nuclei. The anterior division receives information from other areas of the brain and controls thermoregulation. The posterior division receives sensory information from other parts of the body, including skin, rectal and oral cavities, gastrointestinal tract and urogenital tract; it also controls vasomotor responses to heat and cold.

The central nervous system regulates body temperature by altering blood flow to peripheral organs in response to changes in core temperature (the actual temperature of the organs themselves). When core temperature falls below normal levels, sweating occurs; when core temperature rises above normal levels, shivering occurs. These responses are controlled by sympathetic nerve activity within the skin (sweating) or skeletal muscles (shivering).

The hypothalamus senses changes in core temperature by detecting heat loss through evaporation from exposed surfaces or loss through radiation or conduction into cooler surroundings. It then sends signals to peripheral organs that affect their function.

When it comes to maintaining a healthy body temperature, your first instinct might be to think of food. But there are more factors at play than just what you eat.

The way you sleep is a big factor in how warm or cold you feel the next day, says Dr. David Katz, director of the Yale Prevention Research Center and author of The Last Word: The Impulse to Eat and Why It Matters. "Your core temperature rises and falls during the night," he says. "When we wake up, our body is still trying to get back into that normal temperature range."

That's why it's important to get enough sleep each night: It helps regulate your core body temperature, which can affect your metabolism and energy levels throughout the day. If you're not sleeping well or getting enough sleep each night, it's easy for your body temperature to drop. This puts you at risk for hypothermia and other health problems related to low temperatures, including heart attacks and strokes.
